Cannon's Birthday

Cannon turned 3 on February 3! He has really been into trucks the past few months, and when I asked what type of birthday party he wanted his immediate response was TRUCKS! For about ten days before his party he would ask each day, "Is my party starting?" When the answer was finally 'yes' he was super excited!

Some friends loaned us their "jumpy house" (as the kids call it) for his party. It was a little chilly the day of the party, but that didn't stop them from jumping. Even Thomas loved it.

We played a few outside games- Red Light, Green Light, crush the balloons, and tower building relay.

And a few inside games- Transportation Bingo and Truck Matching/Puzzle Game.

Present time!

And lunch:

Cannon was so excited about his cake! The kids helped me decorate it the morning of his party; they loved chopping up candy and putting it on the cake. And eating it!

With our big three year old:

It's amazing how much he has changed over the past year- he has grown taller, talks all the time with long sentences, can ride a tricycle, counts to 7-8 without help, loves to play outside and run, knows all kinds of trucks and looks for them constantly while riding in the car.
We enjoyed celebrating three years of Cannon!

Daddy/Daughter Valentine Banquet

The girls had a special date with Daddy to a Valentine banquet tonight. They have been looking forward to this event for weeks, and have been counting down each day. They planned their outfits a week ago, and were super excited when it was finally time to get ready. Margaret wanted her hair curled; Lydia wanted an 'Elsa braid.'

The boys didn't want to be left out of the pictures.

Brett gave the girls special necklaces as a surprise.

They had a nice dinner, a photo booth, and a game at the banquet. The highlight of the meal for Lydia was the bread, as always...she said she ate two rolls.

This was their first photo booth experience...lots of fun.

The girls came home with balloons, candy, and flowers. A good time was had by all.

Cannon and I baked some Valentine cookies while the girls were gone. Cannon is a little heavy-handed with the sprinkles. But he didn't have any sisters around telling him what to do and he enjoyed decorating all the cookies himself.

September Birthdays

We now have two birthdays to celebrate in September....

Happy 1st Birthday to Thomas!!
(Sept 18)

Happy 6th Birthday to Margaret!!
(Sept 21)

Margaret was excited for them to have a party together, so we had a Strawberry Shortcake/Little Red Wagon birthday party, a good combination.

It was especially fun to celebrate with grandparents!

Margaret with Granny Margaret:

Birthday buddies Bebe and Thomas:

We originally planned to have some outdoor activities for the kids, but a thunderstorm rolled in so I scrambled last minute to have some "party games" as an alternative. We played Guess How Many Strawberry Candies, Strawberry Toss, Strawberry Spoon Relay, and Strawberry Hunt.

Present time was exciting, and Margaret finally got her requested Vanilla Cupcake Doll. She has wanted one since Lydia got one for her birthday (in June) and received a reward of patience!

Margaret requested spaghetti for dinner, her favorite meal, and Thomas enjoyed it as well.

Time for cake! And we had plenty- two birthdays means two cakes! Margaret had a strawberry cake made by Aunt Susie (and Margaret).

Thomas loved his first taste of cake (his first dessert). At first he started pulling off the red polka dots one by one and just eating those, but he soon dug in for more. Then he wanted to share with others. It was like he wanted everyone to experience what he was tasting. Looks like we will have another little sweet tooth.

Happy Birthday, Thomas! His little smile is contagious; he is such a joy to our family.

Happy Birthday, Margaret! Caring, smart, a wonderful big sister; she is growing up too fast.
